The Project

In 2020 four friends and I embarked on a 4,000 mile bike ride from Philadelphia to San Francisco. The trip took a total of 84 days traversing the diverse landscape of the United States, one mile at a time.

The Image

This image captures one of the most incredible nights of our journey. Deep in the Rocky Mountains, we found ourselves camping at 11,000 feet of elevation atop Monarch Pass. The night was clear, far from the light pollution of civilization and we saw the Milky Way Galaxy with our own eyes for the first time.

The Image

This image was taken in the deep valleys of Nevada. The image was taken with a 600mm lens, looking down into the valley. This compressed perspective yields a fascinating effect, as the road ascends up to the next ridge in the distance.

The Image

While riding through Kansas, I stumbled upon this haunting scene. At first, I thought it was decoration, but as I approached the sound of flies and the smell of flesh was unmistakable. The scene is mysterious, who set this up? How did the horse meet its end?
